SPECIFIC DESCRIPTIONS OF QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE STUDY PROGRAMS
III cycle, 3 years, 6 semesters, 180 ECTS credits
The study program of the third cycle-doctoral studies in geography consists of 3 years (6 semesters). Students receive 180 credits.
The professional title after the completion of the third cycle of studies and the defense of the doctoral dissertation is Doctor of Geographical Sciences.
These doctoral studies and the program are organized for obtaining VIII degree education (degree MSKOB 8) and qualifications that lead to the highest level of specialization.

Third cycle - doctoral studies
DURATION OF THE STUDY PROGRAM (YEARS AND SEMESTERS);
The study program of the third cycle of studies in Geography lasts 3 years, i.e. 6 semesters.
ECTS CREDITS THE STUDENT GAINS;
Students who complete these studies gain 180 credits.
FINANCING
Candidates enroll as full-time students by paying for their studies at the Institute of Geography, the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Skopje.
CONDITIONS FOR ENROLMENT
Conditions and criteria for enrollment of students at the University "Ss. Cyril and Methodius” are prescribed by the Rectorate of the University in accordance with the legal regulations and the recommendations of the Ministry of Education and Science.
Candidates who have completed the second cycle of studies in the field of geography and related fields in natural and mathematical sciences, technical-technological and social fields have the right to enroll in the third cycle of studies at the Institute of Geography.
Candidates who have completed the second degree of studies at related faculties can also enroll in the third cycle of studies at the Institute of Geography. The relatedness is determined by the Institute of Geography and published by the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
STRUCTURE OF THE STUDY PROGRAM PURSUANT TO THE ORGANIZATION PROCEDURE OF THE DOCTORAL STUDIES UNIT, THE NUMBER OF THE PREDICTED SUBJECT AND THE GAINED CREDITS, AS WELL AS THE NUMBER OF CREDITS ACQUIRED WITH THE DOCTORAL THESIS.
RATIO BETWEEN MANDATORY AND ELECTIVE SUBJECTS

The structure of the study program envisages two groups of elective subjects, i.e., A and B. The first group (A) is subject education programs in the wider field of research. The second group of subject programs (B) is for education in the narrower field of research. It is divided into six sub-programs and into narrower areas of research.
One subject from the wider and one subject from the narrower field of research can be selected from the study programs of other units of UCM or other state universities in the Republic of Macedonia.
Preparation of the doctoral dissertation
The preparation of the doctoral dissertation includes:
● Topic preparation - original research of the candidate,
● Applying a topic for the doctoral dissertation,
● Publication of printed research papers,
● Writing the dissertation,
● Submission of the doctoral dissertation,
● Public defense of the dissertation
